And why I advocate it…
When I say incidental magick, what I mean is, I am finding that magick/manifestation/cosmic ordering/Law of Attraction works best for me when it happens naturally, when it unfolds coincidentally, when I don’t even think about it and just follow my heart, or more accurately, should I say my intuition.
As part of my conscious journey to heart healing in 2008-9, I created a little love altar. It evolved quite naturally. It originally was on my fireplace in my flat, and included my rose quartz diffuser and two beautiful rose-carved red candles. When I moved back into my mum’s house, the red candles were placed on the windowsill and the diffuser was placed on my bookshelf, which doubles as my spiritual altar. With it were placed two selenite desert roses. One which I bought because it was recommended to me by a crystal-loving online friend at the start of this particular journey, and one which was then given to me as a birthday present by some of my best friends in 2009. And with those were placed two seashells from Arrabida beach in Portugal. When I visited this place in 2009, I was staying with an old friend who had told me of many times she had sent out wishes to the ocean to harness its magick and power. I was also consciously trying to work with mermaid energy at the time. I asked for a sign that I would find the soulmate I sought. When I followed my little boy to another part of the beach, I found two matching shells.
On my second holiday in 2009, I stayed with another close friend in Scotland. She bought me a rose quartz stone with a love and romance talisman painted onto it. I placed it in a little pouch I have on my keyring and promptly forgot about it, carried it round all year.
As the sunshine started to melt and meld and mould the red candles on my windowsill this spring, it was almost as if the magick matured, and out of nowhere I received an email from the wonderful man who is now my boyfriend and who has brought so much love and magick to my life.
Purely incidental magick, and yet it has worked so much better than anything else I have ever known. From this I have learned that a good formula is:
1. Put your intention to the universe (mine was heart healing to clear the ground for a new loving relationship)
2. Invoke the energies you wish to, whether it be crystal energies, nature energies, angelic energies, mermaid energies, faery energies, etc
3. Work hard to achieve your end yourself – For example, I filled my life in 2009 with friends and with music study, and I turned introspective and worked hard on my healing with crystals, prayer and meditation
4. Have faith that it will manifest for you and (absolutely key) forget what you have done to make it so – showing your level of commitment is an important part of this, so keep step 3 going intermittently until what you have asked manifests
